PIH Health Physicians Recognitions
PIH Health Physicians Recognized by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA)
In November 2021, PIH Health Physicians earned the 2021 Excellence in Healthcare Award from the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) based on their measurement year 2020 performance in IHA’s Align. Measure. Perform. (AMP) Commercial HMO Program. The Excellence in Healthcare Award represents the highest level of achievement, recognizing provider organizations that achieved strong quality results while effectively managing costs. This is the fifth year PIH Health Physicians has received this honor. The recognition represents the dedication of the doctors, advance practice professionals, nurses, staff, leadership team and Board members who provide our community with high-quality healthcare.
In February 2022, PIH Health Physicians was also recognized as a 4.5-star provider organization by the IHA for its performance in the Align. Measure. Perform. (AMP) Medicare Advantage program for measurement year (MY) 2020. This is the third consecutive year PHP has received this distinction. The 4.5-star designation recognizes a high level of Medicare Advantage quality achievement. We are excited to invest in the latest technological advancements so that we can continue to provide high-quality healthcare for our patients and the communities we serve.
Technology Integration Launch at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital
On June 11, 2022, the Technology Integration project at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital was launched—a pinnacle point in a multifaceted three-year technology integration plan put into motion after PIH Health acquired Good Samaritan Hospital in December 2019. This project was a significant steppingstone in unifying our newest Los Angeles-based hospital to the PIH Health network and was the product of countless hours of comprehensive planning, rigorous execution, and unwavering dedication from the Information Solutions (IS) team. Integration efforts included upgrading the existing technology infrastructure at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital and aligning its medical software systems to those used across the rest of PIH Health.
As PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital end users embrace changes in workflow, IS teams continue to provide comprehensive training on the software conversion. The complete integration of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital has led to the enhanced coordination of care across the PIH Health network—improving safety, quality and efficiency.

Tattoo-free and Mark-free Treatment for Oncology Patients
In July 2022, the Radiation Oncology Department at PIH Health Whittier Hospital was recognized by Vision RT for treating their breast and chest wall cases markless and tattooless using AlignRT® Advance SGRT (Surface Guided Radiation Therapy). Drawing marks or permanently marking patients used to be the only option clinicians had to set-up patients to ensure treatment was delivered to a precise location. Vision RT’s AlignRT® Advance SGRT technology eliminates the need for tattoos or additional radiation and has been shown in several studies to be as accurate as either marks or tattoos for positioning patients prior to treatment. Tattooless/markless radiotherapy also greatly helps to lower patient anxiety, in order for cancer patients to focus on rest and healing.
